Lilies:

Take a large leaf from a bunch of lilies and gently wipe it clean with a slightly damp tissue of soft paper towel. Place 1-2 drops of vegetable oil onto a clean dry tissue and gently wipe over the leaf to give it a satin finish.
Place the lily leaf on a table then gently arrange 5-6 partially opened lilies on the leaf. Carefully pick the bunch up in your hand and finish arranging the flowers. Hold the flowers together with elastic bands or few wraps of florist tape (available from some florist shops or florist suppliers). Trim the stems and finish with a bow.

Roses in a Layered Bouquet:

Trim excess leaves from several stems of lisianthus. Lay the trimmed lisianthus onto a table. Layer several roses on top and keep graduating them until you have the appropriate sized bouquet. Add Singapore orchids placing them on the sides and here and there among the roses. Carefully gather up the bouquet in your hand and if necessary finish arranging the flowers. Secure the bunch with a few wraps of florist tape or elastic bands. Trim the stems of the flowers with secateurs to all the same length. Tie with ribbon of choice and finish with a bow.

Small Round Tulip Bouquet:

Trim leaves from a bunch of tulips. Place the trimmed tulips into a circle holding them in one hand and arranging with the other. Gradually add small sweet smelling flowers of choice (we have used double jonquils) until you have a “pom pom” type of arrangement. Secure with a rubber band or several wraps of florist tape. Trim the stems to all the same length. Take a long length of ribbon and divide it in half. Place the centre of the ribbon under the base of the bouquet and carefully wrap ribbon around and across in a “criss cross” pattern all the way up the flower stems as shown in photograph. Finish with bow.

Covering Stems of Bouquet with Ribbon:

If you would prefer the stems of the bouquet covered simply wrap long lengths of ribbon from the top to the bottom of the bouquet. Secure with coloured pearl headed pins, making sure to angle the pins up into the bouquet so that the points are safely tucked away.

Flowers

Flowers for the wedding party are so very special! Most important of course is the bridal bouquet which can be a simple bunch of long stemmed flowers or an elaborate arrangement created by a professional floral stylist.

Contemporary bouquets are more stylish than elaborate and can easily be put together with a little creativity. The range of flowers and the quality available now are very good and it is almost just a matter of taking a bunch of beautiful blooms and tying them with a swath of ribbon and you have a bouquet.

If the weather on your special day is very hot, keep the flowers in a very cool place or preferable the refrigerator to help preserve them. Have a small spray bottle filled with cool water on hand to give the finished bouquet a fine puff of mist to keep them looking fresh.
