Middle Eastern Style Pizzas

A real meat lovers pizza with a Middle Eastern flavour.

Middle Eastern Style Pizzas

ingredients

1½ cups self-raising flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup milk
Spray oil

Filling:
2 teaspoons olive oil
½ medium onion, peeled and chopped
300g lean lamb or beef mince
50g pinenuts
½ cup chopped mint
140g tub Leggo's Tomato Paste
Tzatziki dip and fresh mint leaves for serving

instructions

step 1

Sift self-raising flour into a medium sized bowl. Beat together, egg, oil and milk and stir into the flour to make a soft dough. Turn the mixture out onto a floured board and knead lightly, shaping into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10 minutes.

step 2

Heat olive oil in a frying pan and cook onion and mince until mince is browned, approximately 3-4 minutes. Stir in pinenuts, mint and Leggo's Tomato Paste.

step 3

Roll pastry out to 2-3 millimetres thick into either 2 oblongs or 2 rounds and place onto baking paper lined oven trays. Lightly spray pastry with oil and spoon filling evenly over each pizza. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with spoonfuls of Tzatziki dip and fresh mint leaves.

The pizzas can be served sprinkled with dukkah, (a Middle Eastern mixture of spices), hazelnuts and sesame seeds.
