Accompaniments for crusty bread

Butter curl

Cut a large square of butter being careful to handle it as little as possible to prevent finger marks. Carefully cut a sliver of butter in one corner only. Add a sprig of fresh herb. This works best when the butter is almost at room temperature.

Dipping mixture

In many restaurants and cafes the trend is to serve bread with a little bowl of good quality olive oil and Balsamic vinegar for dipping. Sprinkle the oil with freshly ground black pepper.

Butter bean spread

If you prefer a lighter, high fibre spread; drain a 400g can of Edgell Butter Beans and place into a bowl. Add 1-2 cloves of crushed garlic, 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon rind, juice of half a lemon, salt and pepper to taste. Roughly mash all ingredients together and place into a serving dish. Sprinkle with a little olive oil and serve with crusty bread.
